UI/UX: Groovin App

The objective of this project was to use Figma to collaboratively design a music streaming app from start to finish. We started a completing market and user research, where we interviewed potential users and determined that our app would focus on and feature community connection contained within the platform. As we observed that many other competitor apps lack the desired social aspect. After designing a mood board, developing personas and creating a wireframe, we designed a high-fidelity, fully interactive interface of Groovin that allowed us to test our design on potential users and make updates as needed.

Interviews

A large portion of this project had to do with user experience research, as we tried to narrow down the key features our app Groovin would adapt into its design. We chose four, diverse people to interview that listen to music regularly on their phone, and asked a series of exploratory questions to determine what our app would prioritize and include in its unique flow.

Groovin’s Value Proposition

Our proposition is to create a diverse base of music for users to not only enjoy through streaming, but to use it as a platform to connect with music lovers in your community. Music is the all encompassing connective force that holds so many diverse groups together, so finding a haven where they are not just bound to listen, but able to communicate with others is imperative.

Developing Personas

After conducting our interviews, we developed 4 different personas based on the concerns, goals, and needs that were expressed to us by our participants. We found that our target demographic is young, on the go; struggles to find new music and has an affinity for vintage aesthetics.
